Who we are
The company is owned and managed by Tom Schovsbo who grew up in Tanzania and has many years of experience in the tourism industry.
Between 1991 and 1998, Tom managed Ker & Downey Safaris Tanzania and later its sister company, Tanzania Game Tracker Safaris Limited, before moving to the US to manage the company's sales and marketing department until 2001. While in Tanzania, Tom also supervised the Friedkin Conservation Fund, responsible for the conservation of almost 20,000 square kilometers of exclusive concession areas held by the company.
In 2002, Tom began guiding with Equestrian Safaris Ltd., the family's horse safaris business based out of Uto Farm near Arusha.
Since establishing Safaris and Expeditions, he helped found and run Manyara Ranch Conservancy, a 35000 acre private conservancy between Tarangire and Manyara National parks operational since 2010. The conservancy works in partnership with the African Wildlife Foundation, the Tanzania Land Conservation Trust and local communities.
