Matemo Island Resort is the largest island lodge in the Quirimbas Archipelago with 24 rooms. The resort sits on a coral cliff above the sea and looks out onto a stunning stretch of beach. The lodge is accessed by light aircraft – 35 minutes from Pemba, and the island is part of the pristine Quirimbas National Park.
24 Air-conditioned wooden chalets are dotted along Matemo’s private beach. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom, an outside shower, bathtub with a view, large windows. All chalets are within 10 meters of beach, with a large front verandah with Hammock, Chair / Loungers and Beach Towel Drying Rack. The lodge and entertainment areas are spacious open sided buildings where guests can relax and enjoy drinks at the bar or spend time in the swimming pool. Views of the beach and ocean are spectacular from anywhere in this resort.
Outdoor activities are ample and this includes access to various dive sites almost untouched and undamaged. If guests are novice divers there are shallow reefs to explore, while more experienced divers can dive among deep coral drop-offs where turtles and large pelagic fish can be found. Large expanse of pristine beach directly in front of the chalets enabling guests to do a walk into the sea from their chalets.
Matemo combines well with Ibo Island Lodge. We recommend packaging Ibo first followed by a few nights at Matemo on the beach.
