Saadani Safari Lodge is set in the middle of Saadani park and offers a comfortable retreat to explore this destination where beach, bush and river come together in a mix of ecosystems found nowhere else on the eastern coast of Africa.
The fifteen, tented cottages with grass roofs are strung along the beach, each with its own veranda and en-suite bathroom. Seafood is a speciality, in particular fresh prawns that are brought from the sea to the lodge kitchens daily. The uniqueness of Saadani Safari Lodge is its proximity to a mix of different ecosystems. From the mouth of the Wami River where a stone's throw from the open sea you can be boating past pods of hippo, the lodge also offers game driving and bush walking to explore the wildlife in the natural bush. Out at sea, a sand island is a lovely spot for picnics and snorkelling in warm tropical waters.
Each tented cottage is large and airy with wooden frames carrying cool grass roofs. All are fully en-suite (hot and cold running water) and have an unrestricted view onto the ocean with a full-length veranda. All double rooms come with an "Al Fresco" double bed on the veranda for ultimate lazing.
On offer is game driving in open 4x4 vehicles, walking in the park, boat safaris on the Wami River, snorkeling, visits to off-shore sand islands, swimming off the beach by the lodge or lazing around the swimming pool. The lodge can also arrange walks around the local village where Saadani Safari Lodge has several community projects.
