Grumeti Reserves flagship lodge is set high on a hill above the rolling plains of the Serengeti with tremendous views over the plains. With its elegant architecture and furnishings, it is reminiscent of the early 1920's. The long, sweeping verandas, beautifully appointed drawing rooms, fine antiques and works of art at Sasakwa reflect the superlative style of a bygone era.

Enjoy superb cuisine in the beautiful dining room where shimmering silver candelabras, crystal glasses and fine china vie for positions of excellence against the mighty backdrop of the African bush. Afternoon tea is served in the drawing room, pre-dinner drinks may be enjoyed in the romantic bar and lounge area, and a friendly game of billiards might be just the thing while enjoying a night cap of a fine cognac or rare liqueur. The lodge is built in the grand style of an English manor home and comprises seven suites, ranging in size from one to four bedrooms. Each air-conditioned suite features a bedroom, lounge with fireplace, veranda with your own spotting scope, en suite bathroom with bath and shower, dressing area, guest bathroom, heated infinity plunge pool, direct dial telephone facilities and wireless internet access.

Each cottage features a personal bar and fridge, electronic safe, air-conditioning, overhead fan, hairdryer, dial direct telephone, wireless internet access, satellite television and DVD player, and fireplaces. Basic wheelchair access to certain cottages.

The lodge area offers a dining room, bar lounge, television lounge and garden room which open onto wrap around verandas, as well as a library, billiards room and wine cellar. The Spa features a steam room, relaxation area, hydrotherapy tub, gymnasium, yoga room and two therapy rooms for treatments. The Equestrian Centre is home to sixteen horses which are a combination of polo ponies, part thoroughbreds and warm blooded sport horses all between 14 and 16 hands; tack is English style and both English and Western saddles are available; all Equestrian related activities are led by professional horse guides. A selection of compound and re-curve bows are available at the Archery Range. The lodges are committed to the highest and most impeccable standards of luxury safari living. At the main lodge, Sasakwa, each cottage has been positioned for absolute privacy in a landscaped garden; all the cottages have private heated plunge pools, a comfortable lounge, and generously proportioned bedrooms with adjoining dressing room.
